"You know, we work so hard as a team and just can't figure it out on game day," Cadogan said. "I couldn't have asked for a better group of guys to play with, though." -Jim Cadogen in The Salem News Online November 28, 2008

"Coach Ted Flaherty is to be commended for the great work ethic, commitment and spirit exemplified by this years Tiger football team. Keeping the focus and enthusiasm high during a Super Bowl run was one challenge. Going through two winless season’s while maintaining the great spirit and attitude among the players is a testament to the coach and players. They played and practiced with the same enthusiasm in November as they displayed throughout the year. No players quit. They entered every game assuming they would win. They played with pride and dignity right to the final whistle. I’m sure coaches and players alike have learned valuable lessons from this courageous experience." - Principal Barry Cahill Hamilton/Wenham - Ipswich Rotary Breakfast

"Statistically, the season was awful, there's no doubt about it," he began.  "But it was exciting to see how many strides we took compared to last year.  It was nice to be competetitive.  We were at 14-6 halfway through the third quarter on Thanksgiving.  That was the trademark this year - we're in games for the whole or half the game.  Last year, were were out right away.

"The next step would be to be winning these games," Flaherty added.  "...We have seven seniors leaving this year, but we'll have 16 next year, so that should bode a lot better for us.  Things in the program are getting better..." - Coach Flaherty in The Ipswich Chronicle December 4, 2008.

“Ipswich High School Football is about pride, tradition, sportsmanship and excellence and I believe this year’s team showed all of this.  If you attended the first practice of the season and then the last, there was no difference in the level of effort, preparation or intensity from this year’s team.  This is a credit to the players, Coach Flaherty and the rest of our coaching staff.  Regardless of the outcome, week after week, this team showed up, fought hard and expected to win week in and week out.  That is something we can all be proud of!” - Tom Gallagher, Athletic Director
