| " The Manchester Essex football team went into its game with visiting Ipswich last night not wanting to be deceived by head coach Ted Flaherty's Wing-T offense.
"By the time the Hornets figured things out, it was far too late as Flaherty's Tigers roared to a 39-20 road victory." Salem News, Nov 5 2011

| JV/Freshmen Victory! 28-14 Final |
The JV/Freshmen mixed team came back to beat the rival Hamilton Wenham Generals 28-14 on Saturday at Hamilton Wenham High School, scoring all 28 points unanswered in the second half.
Down 14-0 at the half, the Tigers came out firing in the 3rd quarter led by the strong running of Kyle Barber and Eddie Flaherty. Ipswich scored twice in the quarter, making the score 14-14 going into the last quarter.
Flaherty scored the go-ahead touchdown with four minutes left in the game, followed by a successful 2-point conversion, putting the tigers on top 22-14. Just a minute later, the Tigers forced a Hamilton Wenham turnover from a sack by Michael Prine-Robie as he stripped the ball loose from the quarterback. The Tigers took the ball and scored on a run up the middle by fullback Kyle Barber, which ultimately sealed the victory for the Tigers.
The Tigers defense also shined in the second half, with standout performances by linebackers Matt Carey and John Waiswilos, along with defensive linemen Tim Collyer, Jordan Thibault, and Alex Nelson. The secondary also stepped up in shutting down Hamilton Wenham’s pass game. They were led by Kyle Blomster, Vinny Martineau, Robbie Glavin, Henry Sacco, and Charlie Galanis.
The freshman and JV Tigers were able to pull out this victory with just a short week of practice together for the first time all season. The future of Ipswich Football is looking bright! Congratulations to them for beating the Generals…GO TIGERS!

"Ipswich's epic 4-overtime victory at Amesbury last week got us thinking...
For starters, Ipswich's dramatic 37-34 triumph up at Landry Stadium eight nights ago not only gave the Tigers their first win of the season, but tied for the second-longest high school football game in North Shore gridiron history."
"Ten up-and-coming stars from the sophomore and freshmen classes that we're predicting stardom for, based on what we've seen from them already (listed in alphabetical order):

Boston Globe, Oct 10 2011 "Ipswich coach Ted Flaherty had stressed to his players the importance of looking forward and not getting hung up on the team’s six-game losing streak dating to last season.
But after the Tigers’ epic four-overtime victory over Amesbury Thursday night, perhaps Flaherty can excuse his team from following his advice. Ipswich’s win was simply too memorable not to dwell on.
“In my 20 years of coaching I had never seen a game like that,’’ he said. “You don’t have as many conscious thoughts during the game about it being special, but at some point you feel it being special.’’
Boston Herald - Monday Morning Recap, Oct 10 2011
"The Game of the Week to Ipswich’s pulsating 37-34 four-overtime marathon triumph over Amesbury. Peter Moutevelis turned in a workmanlike effort with 32 carries for 158 yards and five touchdowns, leading to Brendan Gallagher’s game-winning 24-yard field goal."
Boston Herald - Weekend Football Stars, Oct 10 2011 "Peter Moutevelis rushed for 153 yards and scored four times as Ipswich outlasted Amesbury in four overtimes, 37-34."
Salem News, Oct 7 2011 "In what has to rank as one of the most remarkable regular season games in Ipswich football history, the Tigers out-battled a valiant Amesbury team, 37-34, in a four-overtime thriller at Landry Stadium."

Newburyport Daily News, Oct 3, 2011
"From that point on it was all Ipswich. The Tigers' defense was stifling, manhandling the Sachems and stuffing their runners, holding them to a mere 24 yards on the ground in the first half."

Newburyport Daily News, Sept 24, 2011
"While Ipswich coach Ted Flaherty lamented his team's turnovers, he praised the defense, which often had to play with their backs against the wall with Triton having such good field position time and again.
"I was very pleased with my defense," Flaherty said. "I think we finally found our defensive identity and we really contained that offense except for three plays so to speak. We never gave up and I thought we were hitting really well, tackling well, so the defense was a bright spot."

Moving the Chains-High School Football, Salem News, Sept 23, 2011
"Speaking of Ipswich, head coach Ted Flaherty's Tigers now hit the road for four consecutive games against opponents from the Greater Newburyport area beginning tonight at Triton (7 p.m.).
Following tonight's clash, they'll visit Pentucket next Saturday (1 p.m.), Amesbury on Thursday, Oct. 6 (7 p.m.) and Newburyport on Friday, Oct. 14 (7 p.m.) before returning home the following week to host Lynnfield in its first NEC/CAL Tier 4 league game Oct. 21.
Travelling to games for a month straight could be a harrowing thought for some teams, particularly one as young as Ipswich. But Flaherty feels quite the opposite.
"I like it, to be honest. I feel it's almost easier to focus when you're on the road," he said. "When you play at home, you tend to feel the mistakes more. On the road, you can tune out the crowd and everything else and just focus as a team on what you want to accomplish."

"High School Football Game of the Week: Ipswich presents great unknown for Marblehead", Salem News, Sept 15, 2011
"...and a winning attitude seems to be returning to Ipswich.
"They've got a lot of new players and have sort of reinvented themselves with a freshman quarterback (Nick Andreas)," Rudloff said. "We've seen a lot of them in the offseason 7-on-7s, and he's terrific. His mechanics are flawless. He doesn't look like a freshman, so we'll try to put some pressure on him. But at the same time it's a Wing-T offense they run, and that's the most difficult for us to play against."
